Elder Blaney and Elder Peck Know That God Loves Them

Time is flying by! This week we pretty much just had time to do service and inspect apartments.  We really enjoy doing apartment inspections because it is a time to connect with our younger missionaries.  We have nine apartment to inspect every six weeks.  I usually like to take a treat and share a short spiritual message.  Elder Prater mostly does the inspecting!

While inspecting Elder Blaney's and Elder Peck's apartment they both shared that they feel God's love for them daily.  Some days are harder than others.  Elder Blaney showed me two dinosaurs he had in his apartment.  (They are on bikes and don't have a car)  He said that it is his favorite dinosaur and one hard day he found them on the street and it instantly lifted his spirit.  He feels it was one way that God let him know that he was aware of him.

Elder Peck than showed me his collection of coins.  He said his family has a tradition that if you found a coin than it was a deceased relative letting you know that they cared.  He had a whole pile of coins.  One day he and Elder Blaney met a man in the park and they agreed to met him a second day under a certain tree so the missionaries could teach him so more about the gospel.  When they came back the second day the man was not there.  But in the spot that they had agreed to met there was several pennies.  This lifted Elder Peck's spirits.  It was disappointing to not find the man there as agreed but with his family's tradition of finding coins, finding many coins made him feel loved.
Our young missionaries work hard and for many this is their first time away from home.  They overcome disappointment and hardships by relying on the Lord and learning of him.  Once in a while they find a little dinosaur or a pile of coins that remind them of the goodness and joy of life.  We love serving with these missionaries.  Their future is bright because of what they are learning now.

Elder Welch and Elder Jensen had a nice clean apartment!

We did spend our usual time in the FamilySearch Center which we always enjoy and were also able to take a member of our ward to our Ward Temple Night.  We were only able to fit in one visit to a member in their home this week because we spend most of our time in service work.  This week was so busy that we did not have time to play pickleball, but we did squeeze in a walk along the beach (we had to get in some exercise somehow!)

It is such a joy to be anxiously engaged in the Lord's work.  I want to be one of the wise servants that Jesus Christ talked about in Luke 12.

35 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
