Four Weeks Left, Last Zone Conference

 We attended our last Zone Conference in the Newport Beach, California Mission this past week.

This is just the beginning of us saying, this is the last time we will be doing such and such.  

We did several apartment inspections this week and that was the last time we would be inspecting those particular apartments.   Once again we were so happy with how shiny the apartments are. 





On Saturday the Spencers organized a Senior Missionary outing at Leo Carillo Ranch as a farewell activity for us.  We enjoyed the company of many of our wonderful friends including Pres. Carter and his wife.  Afterwards some of us met for lunch at Coyote Cafe in Vista for a lovely lunch.

Sunday, Cinco De Mayo, was fast and testimony day.  We loved testimony meeting.  Our Stake President McMasters had invited us during Stake Conference to lead with Christ.  This meaning bear testimony of Jesus Christ first and fore most in all our talks, lessons, etc.  He instructed us that a testimony focuses on our Savior and doesn't last more that three minutes.  If we need to more time than that we should contact our bishop and ask to give a talk.  Because of this instruction our testimony meeting was so amazing!  The spirit was present and we all focused more on our Savior,  Jesus Christ.  One primary aged young man stood up on his own to bear his testimony.  His parents told him, he needed to be able to do it on his own.  They asked him what he was going to say and his reply was "You will see"  He gave a wonderfully simple pure testimony.  It was a very uplifting day. 

Another last this week was Sunday dinner with our sons, Mike and Tyler.  Since it was Cinco De Mayo, you better believe we had tacos. Family dinners have been a highlight of our mission.

We Are Done

We have finished the last week of our senior mission in the Newport Beach, California Mission. We had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Newport Beach Temple one last time to witness a sister in our ward receive her endowments.  It was a beautiful way to end our mission.  Satan put many roadblocks in the way of this happening before we left to go home. God is a God of miracles and he created many to make this happen just two days before we finished our mission.  Bro. and Sister Wiley, Kathleen Griffin, Amy Mobley, Elder Prater and myself  We were sure to get one more glimpse of Oceanside Harbor before we left We will miss many people that we have come to love Jay Griffin and Elder Prater Our last night in the mission we just had to finish up with our favorite tacos with friends- Rod, Karl, Ron and Elder Prater  Our missionary service in the Newport Beach, California Mission may have ended but our service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ has not.  W...

Full, Fun Week

 In the April 2020 General Conference, Pres Nelson said  The Lord's work in the church is moving forward at an accelerated pace- the church will have an unprecedented unparalleled future.  The fulness of Christ's ministry lies in the future.  These are exciting times and when serving as a missionary, one can see how the Lord is hastening his work.  What a joy it is to be part of this great work and help gather Israel.  How have you seen evidence of this accelerated pace?  Having fun with another senior missionary couple was a great way to start our week. Countdown Begins- Five Weeks Left In The Mission

This week we enjoyed time with the family, trips to the temple, service work, lunches with friends, pickleball, a lesson on making stained glass lanterns, family history work, helping with setting up a missionary apartment, a visit to San Diego and a wonderful baptism.  Our Sunday dinners with our son, Mike and his family will be some of our favorite mission memories.  We have loved learning how to make stained glass lanterns from Marvin.  We always find satisfaction in helping to prepare new apartments for the young missionaries.   Exploring our mission and the beauty around us is always a pleasure.  This week we visited Cabrillo National Monument in San Diego.   We had the privilege of being able to attend the baptism of our good friend, Bryan.  His wife and son were baptized in our ward a year ago and then they moved to a near by city.  In November, Elder Prater baptized their second oldest son so imagine our joy when we got the word ...
