Summer Is Here!

On our P-day this week we were able to walk along the beach, enjoy the sunshine and the lack of June gloom.

The rest of our week was very busy with lessons, adult Family Home Evening, service, apartment inspections and visits.  We did start and end our week trying out a couple of Mexican restaurants and Mrs. Taco is still my favorite.

One lesson I never seem to learn is never hand your phone to a young missionary.

Probably the highlight of our week was taking two companionships of Elders to the temple where our whole zone attended the same session.  Once every three months, the missionaries are allowed to attend the temple and this time it landed on the first day of summer.  It was a wonderful day!  We stopped for lunch on our way home.  We always enjoy being with the teaching missionaries and learn so much from them.

As always, we enjoyed our time in the Family Search Center this week..

One lesson that I learned or relearned this week is that because this is God's work he will provide the people for us to serve if we do our part.  We had a couple of people that we have been working with move out of our ward so it looked like we won't be as busy.  So much of the time, we will reach out to people by text, phone calls and visits and barely anyone returns our texts, calls or answers the door.  It is hard to help others come closer to Christ if we can't even communicate with them.  This week after trying to contact several members, I just prayed that we would be able to use our time well here.  Not long after that three people that I had reached out to in prior weeks responded to me all at once and we were able to make arrangements to meet with them.   We are so happy to be able to serve in the Lord's vineyard here in the Newport Beach, California mission!

  1. Glad the June gloom has passed and that you are enjoying the fruits of your labor. Our Temps have been over 100° here this last week. Summer came in like a lion. God bless all of you that serve him.
