Good Week

This was a good week.   Things felt normal and we enjoyed many of our usual missionary activities including time in the Family Search Center and our weekly district meeting.

Our week started out with our monthly Empty Nest Family Home Evening.  Bro. Johnson, a newer member of our ward had a calling in public relations for many years in the church. He shared some of his amazing  experiences with us.

In the middle of the week, we were able to participate in baptisms for the dead in the Newport Beach, California temple.

After the temple we joined the other senior missionaries for a bonfire on the beach.  One of our favorite activities.  The Scotts and the Weimanns will be finishing up their missions in October and returning home, we will really miss them.

We finished up our apartment inspections for the transfer this week and visited some members.  On Friday, our son, Tyler had a lay over in San Diego so we spent the day with him.  We hiked Torrey Pines in San Diego with him.  We had started the day out by playing pickleball and going swimming and than he walked us all over the place.  We were definitely tired by the end of the day.  As always Tyler took some great pictures.  He always introduces us to a new place to eat.

Our week ended with an amazing Stake Conference.  On Saturday night our Stake President, taught us about being intentional- in our relationship with our Savior and in keeping our covenants.  Without being intentional nothing will happen.  On Sunday, he taught us about J O Y on the sabbath.  Jesus, Others, and You.  As you consider what activities how to spend your sabbath, first put the Savior first, others second and yourself last.

We had an Area Seventy visit our Stake Conference, Douglas A. Rozsa.  He asked us what the phrase

Therefore, in the ordinances thereof, the power of godliness is manifest”

means  to us.  As we discussed it we determined that as we make and keep Covenants with God, we will see his power in our lives through the Atonement of Jesus Christ which sanitizes us, enables us and helps us overcome all our trials.   This scripture in 1 Nephi 14:14 perfectly the power of God that is manifested as we keep our covenants in our day.

14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were aarmed with brighteousness and with the cpower of God in great glory.

These talks were helpful and inspiring helping us to want to make sure we are intentional about keeping our covenants including making the Sabbath Day a delight.  It was a good week.

  1. What an amazing collection of activities! I can’t believe that was all packed into one week! Was that a Korean restaurant that you ate at?
