Jesus Others You = JOY

This week in our district meeting, our district leader, Elder Barfuss, was talking about enduring to the end.   He called it enjoying to the end.  Pres. Nelson has taught us that the joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.  So we can enjoy to the end if our focus is on our Savior and we are letting God prevail in our lives.

During our last Stake Conference, our Stake President, Pres. McMasters,  taught us that Joy comes from focusing first on Jesus, Others and than ourselves.  A very good recipe for learning how to enjoy to the end.

Some ways that we were able to enjoy this week including playing pickle ball with three other senior missionary couples, including a new couple from St. George, Utah, the Spencers.  It was a blast.

We love our young missionaries.  We enjoy our weekly meeting with them and inspecting their apartments. This week we finished up our inspections for this transfer.  We have a winner for our shiniest apartment contest and will be announcing the winner at our next district meeting.  They will receive a trophy that they can keep in their apartment until the next transfer's winner is chosen.

We were able to attend a ceramic sale this week.  One of the sisters in our ward that we visit, teaches ceramics in a senior community.  The sale was to raise money to buy some more equipment for their ceramic club.  We bought a lovely vase that our friend had created herself.  We will love looking at this vase for years and remembering our time and friends in San Marcos, California.

This week we also enjoyed our ward's Trunk and Treat.  Several ward members had amazing trunks that they had decorated, so many creative members!  There was a chili cook off and plenty of games for the children to play.  We were very happy that our son, Mike and his daughter, Camilla, joined us.

Today at church, since it was a fifth Sunday, we had a lesson on teaching at home after which there was a munch and mingle.  I brought my sister in law's baked pineapple recipe and it got eaten up!   It was a week of pure enjoyment!
