Zone Conference

This week we had our last Zone Conference with our friends, Elder and Sister Scott, and Elder and Sister Weidmann.  Both couples are finishing up their missions this month and heading home.  As you know from previous blogs, Elder and Sister Scott are our housing and car missionaries.  Each zone conference they come up with a new skit or costume to entertain us as they teach about cleaning and car safety.  Their last training was the best of all.  They were cheering for the Newport Beach, California Mission and the missionaries were loving it!  They had a standing ovation at the end. They brought the house down.  The Weidmanns have been such a help in the mission office during their time here.   Both couples will be dearly missed.

We had a busy week with visits and working in the Family Search Center.  We also got the chance to visit the temple again with some ward members.  On Saturday we were asked to represent the mission at an Emergency Response Training in San Deigo, so we could share how the missionaries are accounted for during an emergency.  The training was very informative and so well organized.  We learned that San Diego County is the model for all the other 211 systems in the United States.  They are so prepared for an emergency and all the agencies work together. We were so impressed.   The training was all morning and very much worth our time.

After our training we were able to visit a member from our ward who was with her son that was in a children's hospital close by.  Elder Prater gave the son a wonderful blessings with so many sweet promises. In order to visit someone in this hospital, you must show your driver's license at the front desk.  They use your picture on your license to print off a visitor's pass.  Joe's pass made me laugh every time I looked at it- it was rather creepy.

Another good week serving in the Newport Beach, California Mission
